Obesity is one of the leading causes of death.
We generally only think of obesity as being an affliction that is limited
to adults. It is time to consider obese children.
Obese or excessively fat children may be priming
their bodies for heart disease and strokes later in life, according
to a recent study of obese children. Even if they grow up into slim
adults, the damage to their arteries has already been done.
This is why it may be imperitive that children
with obesity get the help they need early on, before much of the damage
can be done or reversed. Children who are at risk for obesity should
be put on low calorie but healthy diets and encouraged to exercise.
