This section basically will not give you a linear list of foods that are low in fat, if that is what you are looking for. There are just too many of them to list. That's the good news!
What we will do here instead is to list the basic recommendations of the food types that you should be concentrating on for a low fat diet.
Eating healthy foods doesn't mean losing flavor. You can choose and prepare low-fat foods that your family will enjoy. Just follow the advice below.
By food group, here is what you should be taking in on a daily basis in order to maintain a low fat and healthy diet.
Bread, Cereal, Rice and Pasta
Whole-grain breads are low in fat; they're also high in fiber and complex carbohydrates. Choose these breads for sandwiches and as additions to meals.
Vegetables and Fruits
Fruits and vegetables are naturally low in fat, and they add flavor and variety to your diet. They also contain fiber, vitamins and minerals.
Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs and Nuts
Baking, broiling and roasting are the healthiest ways to prepare meat. Lean cuts can be pan -broiled or stir-fried. Use either a nonstick pan or nonstick spray coating.
Dry beans, peas and lentils offer protein and fiber without the cholesterol and fat that meats have. Once in a while, try substituting beans for meat in a favorite recipe, such as lasagna or chili.
The bottom line is that there are many low fat foods for you to choose from that have plenty of flavor. Just do your homework. Back when I was first looking for low fat foods I remember having a difficult time satisfying my spicy tastes. Using the internet, I found that there are many variations on the types of foods that I was already eating.
Just do some research on the type of foods that you like and then find the variations that will work for you diet wise.
